The Working Group on Responsible Tourism and Sustainable Development was created with the aim of promoting within UCLG tourism that besides offering the traveler cultural, natural, relaxation and recreational attractions constitutes a responsible mechanism that promotes the local community’s economic and social development projecting their culture at an international level and preserving their natural resources.

The working group is linked to the Commission on Cooperation to Development and Cities Diplomacy. This Working Group is chaired by Ivonne Ortega, Governor of Yucatan (Mexico) and has three Vice-Presidencies in Asia-Pasific, Africa and Europe.
