VISIT TO THE CONSULATE GENERAL OF SAUDI ARABIA ON 7TH OF JANUARY 2015 9.01.2015

On 7^th of January 2015, Mr. Mehmet DUMAN, Secretary General of UCLG-MEWA, paid a visit to the Consul General of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Musa'd bin Abdulmuhsin AL-GANAWI in Istanbul.

During the meeting, Mr. Mehmet DUMAN introduced UCLG-MEWA and its activities, through its publications and invited Mr. AL-GANAWI to cooperate to gather all the Saudi Municipalities under the umbrella of UCLG-MEWA by submitting invitation letters to Saudi Mayors to become members of UCLG-MEWA. In this context, the Secretary General of UCLG-MEWA expressed his desire to pay a visit to Saudi Mayors in Riyadh and Jeddah, to the Arab Urban Development Institute (AUDI) and to the Organization of Islamic Capitals and Cities (OICC) during the month of January to explore possible cooperation in the framework of the different Committees of UCLG-MEWA established in the UCLG-MEWA Executive Bureau and Council Joint Meeting was held in Adana, Turkey on 19 December 2014.

The Consul General of Saudi Arabia approved to give his support to UCLG-MEWA in order to integrate the Saudi Municipalities in the Organization.  

At the end of the meeting, Mr. DUMAN presented a plaque to Mr. AL-GANAWI and extended his gratitude for his kind welcoming and hospitality.
