VISIT OF THE MAYOR OF TRIPOLI TO UCLG-MEWA 12.05.2014

On 7^th of May 2014, Mr. Nader GHAZAL, the Mayor of Tripoli (Lebanon) paid a visit to the Secretary General of United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia section (UCLG-MEWA), Mr. Mehmet DUMAN in Istanbul. During the visit, Mr. Ghazal expressed his gratitude to the Secretary General for his kind welcoming and hospitality. He invited Mr. DUMAN to visit the Lebanese Municipalities in order to develop the collaboration with UCLG-MEWA. He stressed that all the countries of the MEWA region have common culture and heritage which represent the common way of cooperation.

Within the context of the Syrian crisis and the project of UCLG-MEWA to develop a vocational training center for Syrian refugees, the mayor of Tripoli shared the valuable experience of the Municipality of Tripoli in providing services to the Syrian refugees. He also added that the Lebanese Municipality provides other activities such as trainings to the students in schools with the collaboration of local NGOs.
