Visit of Dr. Muhtar ÇOKAR, General Director of the Human Resources Development Foundation (HRDF) 9.12.2013
On Friday 21st November Dr. Muhtar ÇOKAR, General Director of the Human Resources Development Foundation (HRDF) paid a visit to Mr. Mehmet DUMAN, UCLG-MEWA Secretary General to explore possible collaboration between the two organizations in the field of assistance to urban refugees.
HRDF was founded in 1988 by academicians and businessmen with the target to deliver aid to refugees and raise awareness on the rights of asylum seekers. HRDF is a Turkish organization working mainly in Turkey and recognized by UNHCR. They deliver services to refugees in the following fields: health, education, child protection. The organization works a lot with children and women providing them with psychological support. They are also able to support refugees by integrating them in the hosting community. HRDF cooperates with municipalities in surveys listing the needs of refugees.
Within the framework of preliminary works to establish a working group on migrations. UCLG-MEWA will continue to exchange with HRDF and to share information concerning urban refugees. All members of UCLG-MEWA interested to participate in the working group on migrations are invited to contact UCLG-MEWA office to get more information about our project.
