URBAN TRANSFORMATION SUMMIT; FUTURE OF THE CITY, CITY OF FUTURE STARTED IN ISTANBUL 22.10.2014

The first edition of Summit on Urban Transformation which is one of most important items on Agenda of Turkey, called “Future of the City, City of the Future” was held in WOW Hotel on 18^th September 2014, with the cooperation of Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and World Academy for Local Government and Democracy (WALD),and organized by Event AYNA, with the valuable contributions of experts.

Dr. Kadir TOPBAS, President of UCLG and Mayor of Istanbul, underlined that cities of today should be prepared for natural disasters. Mehmet DUMAN, Secretary General of UCLG-MEWA and Chairman of the Board of Directors of WALD, pointed out the lacking parts of projects of urban transformation in practice. And Lokman CAGRICI, Treasurer of UCLG-MEWA and Mayor of Bagcilar made a presentation about the urban transformation practices in Bagcilar.

The summit was remarkable with the informative presentations which were done by executives (authorities) and experts as well. Next editions of the “Future of the City, City of the Future” will be held in Kayseri, Izmir, Adana, Ankara and Antalya.
