UCLG-MEWA VISITIED LÜLEBURGAZ MUNICIPALITY, TURKEY 27.01.2015

United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Section (UCLG-MEWA) and World Academy for Local Government and Democracy (WALD) officers paid a visit to Lüleburgaz Municipality on 23 January 2015 at the kind invitation of Mr. Emin HALEBAK, Mayor of Lüleburgaz. Department managers of Lüleburgaz Municipality who are interested in city branding also participated in the meeting which aimed at introducing UCLG-MEWA and City Branding Project.

Dr. İhsan İKİZER, UCLG-MEWA General Coordinator, gave information about UCLG-MEWA and its Committees, especially about the Committee on Gender Equality which was established during the UCLG-MEWA Executive Bureau and Council Joint Meeting held in Adana, Turkey on 19 December 2014. Emin HALEBAK, Mayor of Lüleburgaz made presentation about municipal services of Lüleburgaz and their achievements on gender equality that can be considered as good examples for other local governments.

Subsequent to the meeting in which possible cooperation was discussed, the delegation paid a visit to the city hall and the Turkish bath of social complex of Sokollu Mehmet Pasha which was renewed and is being used as the municipal assembly chamber.  The meeting that took place in warm atmosphere opened doors to collaboration opportunities between UCLG-MEWA, WALD and Lüleburgaz Municipality.
