UCLG-MEWA SECRETARY GENERAL VISITED CONSUL GENERAL OF AZERBAIJAN 23.01.2015

Mehmet DUMAN, UCLG-MEWA Secretary General, and Salim KORKMAZ, Coordinator of Relations with International Organizations, visited Hasan ZEYNALOV, Consul General of Azerbaijan in Istanbul in his office on 22 January 2015.  At the meeting which was organized within the context of ensuring cooperation with the Istanbul representatives of the countries in the UCLG-MEWA Region, Mr. Mehmet DUMAN commemorated the 20 January martyrs of Azerbaijan, and expressed his sorrow for the past grievances.

Mr Mehmet DUMAN provided information about the activities of UCLG-MEWA during 2014 and presented samples of the periodical and non-periodical publications of UCLG-MEWA to Mr. ZEYNALOV. After informing the Consul General briefly about the UCLG World Organization and its Sections, UCLG-MEWA Membership invitation letters which were prepared for the mayors of major Azerbaijani cities were given to Mr. ZEYNALOV to be delivered to the relevant mayors.

Mr. ZEYNALOV stressed that the Azerbaijani cities should benefit from the experiences of the cities in our region, and Istanbul, in particular, and stated that he would be insistent on participation of the cities in his country, in the future UCLG-MEWA activities.

The visit ended with presentation of a plaque to Mr. ZEYNALOV by Mr. DUMAN and taking a photograph.
