UCLG-MEWA PARTICIPATED IN THE PREPARATORY MEETING OF THE EUROPEAN POLICY FORUM ON DEVELOPMENT 9.02.2015

Dr. İhsan İKİZER, UCLG-MEWA General Coordinator, participated in the  European Union Policy Forum on Development Task Team” meeting which was held in Brussels on 27 January 2015, by European Union Directorate General of International Development and Cooperation. Draft agenda of the “European Union Policy Forum on Development” meeting which will be held in Brussels on 16-18 March 2015 was discussed in the meeting. The European Union includes local authorities and civil society organizations while determining its policies on development aids.

UCLG-MEWA, as the representative of the local authorities in its region, has provided contributions to the policy forum on development since it has been established. The Forum will address many topics  in its next meeting, such as, necessary financing for realization of the Post-2015 development goals, providing the necessary conditions  for capacity building of local authorities and NGOs,  decentralization, improvement of the financial structures of local authorities, and the policy statement titled “A Global Partnership for Post-2015 poverty and sustainable development
