UCLG-MEWA OFFICIALS WERE AT ÇANAKKALE FOR BRIEFING MEETING! 20.10.2014

United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Section (UCLG-MEWA) officials attended Monthly Regular Çanakkale Municipality Assembly meeting on September 2, 2014 upon the invitation of Mayor of Çanakkale Ülgür Gökhan.

UCLG-MEWA General Coordinator Dr. İhsan İKİZER provided detailed information about the UCLG-MEWA World Organization, UCLG-MEWA structure and the cooperation between UCLG-MEWA and City Councils and the symposium about International Local Governments Ombudsman, which is going to be held jointly by UCLG-MEWA and Çanakkale Municipality.  In his speech, Dr. İhsan İKİZER expressed that UCLG-MEWA is ready to give all the support to the City Councils. 

“UCLG-MEWA works hold a very important place in the process of establishment and development of City Councils.  Our organization, has been supporting City Councils in many areas; such as providing communication during the program, co-ordination of cooperation, sharing of applications, women’s and youth works, execution of financial services, international relations and consultancy.  There are 9 City Councils within UCLG-MEWA. These are Antalya, Batman, Çanakkale, Diyarbakır, Gölcük, Kocaeli, Malatya, Nilüfer and Yalova City Councils” added Dr. İhsan İkizer.

Gökhan KARACA, World Academy for Local Government and Democracy (WALD) City Councils Coordinator, also attended the assembly meeting.
