UCLG-MEWA IS 10 YEARS OLD 22.07.2014
International Union of Local Authorities, Section for the Eastern Mediterranean and
Middle East Region, which was founded in 1987, was transformed into United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Section (UCLG-MEWA), with the founding of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) in 2004.
UCLG-MEWA, operating in 20 countries, celebrated its 10th anniversary in its Headquarters in Sultanahmet, İstanbul, with the participation of Secretary General Mehmet Duman and staff members of the organization. Mehmet Duman, in his speech, expressed his wishes that 2014 will be a turning point in strengthening local authorities, and he made a wish that 10th anniversary will be auspicious for the UCLG-MEWA members.
