UCLG-MEWA attended “International Relations in Local Governments and Diplomacy Training “held in Ankara 17.12.2013

Union of Municipalities of Turkey (UMT) organized a training called “International Relations in Local Governments and Diplomacy Training “from 8^th to 10^th of December in Ankara.  Roughly 100 Foreign Relations’ staff members of local governments from different regions of Turkey attended the program. Hayrettin Gungor, Secretary General of UMT, has made an opening speech.

On the first day of the program, Murat Bilhan, former Turkish Ambassador, talked about “Foreign Policies and Diplomatic Developments of Turkey in Recent Years". The second session of the program was about “Protocol Training”.

Mr. Bilhan on the second day of the program continued the training with “Correspondence Techniques in Diplomacy and Negotiation.” Afterwards, Bahar Özden, a specialist from UMT, made a presentation about “Sister City Relations and International Local Government Organizations”.

Last day of the program, a presentation called “Financial Support from European Union and Regional Policies with Local Governments” was made by representatives from Ministry of European Union. Ultimately, certificates were given to participants for their attendance.
