TURKISH-FRENCH COOPERATION REGARDING SUSTAINABLE CITIES 22.08.2014

UCLG-MEWA Secretariat General is pleased to inform you about Vivapolis Symposium that will be held in Istanbul on 23-24 September 2014. This meeting is organized by UBIFRANCE, French agency to develop exportations, in partnership with the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, Ministry of Economy, the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning, the French Embassy in Turkey, the French Development Agency, United Cities France (CUF), UCLG-MEWA, the Union of Municipalities of Turkey (UMT) and the Union of Municipalities of Marmara (UMM).

On 23 September French companies will present their expertise in the following fields:

-          Energy efficiency

-          Waste management

-          Life quality and urban planning

During morning of Wednesday 24 September, UCLG-MEWA and Cités Unies France (CUF) will organize a side-event meeting for Franco-Turkish decentralized cooperation in UCLG-MEWA premises. This meeting will be an opportunity to discuss renewal of the Franco-Turkish cooperation through sharing of experiences. It will also be the occasion to tackle important issues of the International Development Agenda such as:

1.    Preparation of the COP21 Conference on Environment to be held in Paris

2.    Challenges in financing urban development

3.    Preparation of the meeting of UCLG Committee on Gender Equality to be held in Istanbul in 2015
