The Climate Change Response at the Local Level in Istanbul Took Place in Marmara University 31.10.2014

The Climate Change Response at the Local Level in Istanbul workshop, in which, climate change, which is a global problem was discussed and all of its aspects were examined, took place in Marmara University Haydarpaşa Campus on 30-31 October within the scope of World Cities Day, with the contributions of UCLG-MEWA and its stakeholders.

Dr. Kerstin KRELLENBERG, the project manager, Mehmet DUMAN, Secretary General of UCLG-MEWA, Prof. Dr. Erol ÖZVAR, Vice Rector of Marmara University and Dr. Carsten Krück, Officer of VDI Technology Centre made the opening speeches respectively. The participants posed with a banner promoting the World Cities.

In the opening speech Mr. Mehmet DUMAN emphasized the importance of coherent cooperation by saying ‘’Local authorities with their activities are almost competing with central administrations and academicians in fighting against climate change. Yet, associating the powers and studies is important for our future. Therefore, if we can achieve this cooperation, we can reshape the happy future of our generations.’’
