Secretary General of UCLG-MEWA Mr. Mehmet DUMAN paid an official visit to Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Istanbul 7.11.2013

On 5th of November 2013, Mr. Mehmet DUMAN, the Secretary General of United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia, paid a visit to the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mr. Mohammad Sarwar MOJADIDI, in Istanbul.

Mr. DUMAN presented UCLG-MEWA organization and its activities to the Consul General. He also submitted invitation letters for the local governments in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, to become members in UCLG-MEWA organization with the final goal to share their experiences with other municipalities of Middle East and West Asia region.

Besides, Mr. DUMAN invited the Consul General and the mayors from the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to participate in the UCLG-MEWA Executive Bureau and Council Joint Meeting to be held on 19-20 December 2013 in Konya (Turkey) and to be hosted by Konya Metropolitan Municipality. There will be two thematic workshops on the following topics: "Contributions of Local Diplomacy to Regional and World Peace” and "Innovative Practices in Local Governments".

Finally, Mr. DUMAN presented a small gift to the Consul General and extended his gratitude for his kind welcoming and hospitality.
