Opening Ceremony of the UCLG-MEWA Executive Bureau and Council Joint Meeting, hosted by Konya Metropolitan Municipality was held on 19 December 2013.

Mr. Mehmet DUMAN, UCLG-MEWA Secretary General delivered an opening speech during the ceremony. Mr. Mohammed Bager QALIBAF, President of UCLG-MEWA and Vice President of UCLG;  Mr. Tahir AKYÜREK, Co-President of UCLG-MEWA and Mayor of Konya, and Mr. Lokman ÇAĞIRICI, Treasurer of UCLG-MEWA and Mayor of Bağcılar was present during the ceremony in which Mr. Muammer EROL, Governor of Konya participated as well.  Mr. Ahmet SELAMET, First Deputy Chairman of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipal Assembly, who represented Dr. Kadir TOPBAŞ, President of UCLG and Mayor of Istanbul also attended the ceremony.

The ceremony was concluded with mutual presentations of gifts and plaques.
