IZMIR METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITY IS CANDIDATE FOR UCLG-MEXICO CULTURE 21 INTERNATIONAL AWARDS 15.07.2014

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which assumes the role of Co-Presidency of UCLG-MEWA,  aims at protecting the archaeological and cultural heritage by means of the project of restructuring Konak-Kemeraltı and its surroundings, and making it a tourist attraction centre.  Izmir Metropolitan Municipality aims at becoming an example to the world by this project. Multiculturalism is a modern concept, yet Izmir Metropolitan Municipality will announce to the world that this lifestyle has a history of hundreds of years in the lands in which it assumed the role of local government.  This intresting project, is also a candidate for the UCLG-Mexico-Culture 21 International Award.  As UCLG-MEWA, we would like to congratulate Izmir Metropolitan Municipality for their works.
