“GOVERNANCE, CIVIL SOCIETY AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS” WAS DISCUSSED AT UCLG-MEWA HEADQUARTERS 22.04.2014
Assoc. Prof. Yüksel Demirkaya, lecturer at Marmara University, delivered a talk on “Governance, Civil Society and the Local Governments” at the UCLG-MEWA Headquarters in Sultanahmet, Istanbul. The conference was followed by a wide-ranging audience. In his talk, Mr. Demirkaya expressed that although the local governments in Turkey have broad authority, they are not audited. He aldo stressed the importance of the civil society in the recent years. The talk was concluded with presentation of plate and treats.
The next meeting of UCLG-MEWA will be on 21st of May, 2014, between 15:00-16:30, in which Assoc. Prof. Nail Yılmaz, lecturer at Marmara University will deliver a talk on “Social Structure, Local Governments and Urban Transformation"
