COOPERATION OPPORTUNITIES BETWEEN FRENCH AND TURKISH LOCAL GOVERNMENTS THROUGH UCLG-MEWA 15.07.2014

On 20 May 2014, Mr. Mehmet Duman, Secretary General of UCLG-MEWA, visited Ms. Muriel Domenach, French Consul General, in her office. In the meeting partnerships for possible projects between the UCLG-MEWA and French authorities were discussed.  After the local government elections that took place in March 2014 in Turkey and France, it was stated that parties are extremely keen on cooperating with each other.  In the upcoming weeks, Ms. Anne HIDALGO, Mayor of Paris and Chairperson of UCLG Standing Committee on Gender Equality and Dr. Kadir Topbaş, Mayor of Istanbul and President of UCLG are expected to come together.  At the end of this highly productive visit, Mr. Mehmet Duman, presented a plaque of UCLG-MEWA and keychain to the Distinguished Consul General.
