A Preparatory Meeting Took Place in Istanbul For The Forum Of Local Authorities In The Mediterranean 21.02.2013

The Mediterranean Committee of UCLG organised a preparatory meeting in Istanbul,Turkey on 14 February 2013, for the Forum of Local Authorities in the Mediterranean to be held in Marseille on 3-4 April 2013 . After a first preparatory meeting in Rabat (Morocco) on  5 November 2012, this meeting aimed to present to the Turkish members of UCLG-MEWA the workshops of the Forum of Local Authorities and the proposal of a Political Council within the Mediterranean Committee. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Adnan AKYARLI, President of the Metropolitan Council of Izmir and co-chaired by Laurence GRIETTE from the Secretariat of the Mediterranean Committee of UCLG and Mehmet DUMAN, Secretary General of ULCLG-MEWA.  Participants has the opportunity to share their experiences in the fields of decentralization, social inclusion, economical development, aid effectiveness, Millennium Goals for Development and about the role of local authorities in situation of crisis. After rich exchanges of the participants which allow thinking the Turkish delegation will give a strong contribution to the debates of the Forum of Local Authorities of the Mediterranean
