A delegation of Mayors from Gazza Strip made a visit to UCLG-MEWA 26.04.2013

Within the framework of the preparatory activities of a meeting to promote twinning between Palestinian and Turkish municipalities, UCLG-MEWA contributed in the organization of the visit of a delegation of Mayors and elected representatives from the Gaza Strip (Palestine) in Istanbul from the 12th to the 16th of April 2013.

During their stay in Istanbul, members of the delegation had the opportunity to meet with a number of district municipalities in Istanbul, interested in cooperating with municipalities of the Gaza Strip. Furthermore, the delegation also visited some facilities of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality such as the information center where all projects of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality are presented, and ISKI (Istanbul Water and Sewage Administration), the municipal company administration for water supplying and sewage.

Believing that this visit would have opened the way for a deeper cooperation between Palestinian and Turkish municipalities, UCLG-MEWA will continue to work on the development of decentralized cooperation in the MEWA region.
