14TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF TURKISH CITY COUNCILS PLATFORM 16.10.2014

United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Section (UCLG-MEWA) officials participated in the 14^th General Assembly of Turkish City Councils Platform, hosted by Odunpazarı, Eskişehir City Council, on 27 September 2014, upon invitation of Mr. Şazi ÇAVUŞOĞLU, Chairman of Nilüfer City Council (Bursa).

The meeting, held under the main theme of “past, present and future of City Councils”, was started upon establishing the Council Board, pursuant to a moment of silence and chanting of the Turkish National Anthem.  Dr. Ihsan IKIZER, UCLG-MEWA General Coordinator, who took the floor after the opening speeches and presentation of the new city councils, provided detailed information on the structures of the UCLG World Organization and UCLG-MEWA, ant the cooperation between UCLG-MEWA and city councils. Dr. Ihsan IKIZER, stated that UCLG-MEWA is ready to provide all kinds of support to the city councils. IKIZER continued his words as follows: “Works of UCLG-MEWA is of great significance in developing and taking hold of the process of city councils. Our organization has provided support to the City Councils in many areas, such as ensuring communication and coordinating the cooperation, sharing practices, women and youth activities, execution of financial services, international relations and consultancy.” Metin ÖZDEMİR, UCLG-MEWA Officer, responsible for City Councils, participated in the 14^th General Assembly of Turkish City Councils Platform.
