Iraqi delegation from Erbil Municipality paid an official visit to Secretariat General of UCLG-MEWA 1.03.2013

Iraqi delegation from Erbil Municipality was headed by Mayor of Erbil, Mr. Ali Rashid AHMED, paid an official visit to Secretariat General of United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia in Istanbul, on 27 February 2013.

The delegation consisted of Mr. Ali Rashid AHMED Mayor of Erbil, Mr. Salah Taher ABDULLAH Advisor to the Mayor, Mr. Shwan Yusuf ABDULLAH Erbil Municipality Director of Technical Affairs, Mr. Karwan Jabbar HASSAN Provincial Director of Environment, Mr. Mohammed Jawed PIRDAWOOD Erbil Municipality Director of Asphalt Plant, and Mr. Hayman Ismail PIRDAWOOD Provincial Director of Urban Development.

During the visit, Mr. Ali Rashid AHMED Mayor of Erbil expressed Erbil Municipality desire to be an active member of the UCLG-MEWA family and he presented his gratitude to the Secretary General for his kind welcoming and hospitality.

Secretary General Mr. DUMAN noted that “UCLG-MEWA aims to embrace and strengthen all local and regional authorities under its roof; we would be pleased and honoured to have the Erbil Municipality among our prominent members from the MEWA region, along with a number of other members from Iraq.”

Mr. DUMAN added that “We strongly believe that your valuable contribution and active participation in our activities will be very constructive and beneficial for all UCLG member local and regional authorities in the Middle East and West Asia region especially in establishing cooperative relationship among local and regional authorities, in finding solutions to the common problems and in producing joint projects and programs.”
